It provides common-user airlift transportation services to deploy, employ, and sustain US forces on a global basis. Under crisis action, wartime conditions or where critical situations make diversion of the normal logistic process necessary, the logistic and administrative authority of combatant commanders enable them to use all facilities and supplies of all forces assigned to their commands as necessary for the accomplishment of their missions.
MTMC also administers transportability programs to ensure the incorporation of safe, efficient, and effective deployment characteristics into equipment design. A specified command is a command that has a broad continuing mission and is composed of forces from but one Service.
